As part of a group project with the amazing Riley Perdue and super talented Kylie Halliburton, we created a fictional museum exhibit collaboration between The Getty Museum and Disney. The exhibit focused on the technological advancements that Disney has made in animation. We wanted the exhibit to fit into the Disney brand, which meant that it had to be child-friendly and magical as well as informative.
We were inspired by the iconic Mickey Mouse and Magic Castle silhouettes, and wanted to showcase the range of technological advancements by including a collage of moments in classic Disney movies.
My part in the creation of this fictitious museum was to take charge of all logos, signage, and branding. I wanted to layer the Mickey Mouse and Magic Castle silhouettes with a collage of moments in classic Disney movies. I made a version of each, and ultimately decided that it would be fun to have two different versions. So we went with both!
Since Disney and The Getty both already have their brand style guides, the only thing left was to incorporate my logos. I created a mesh gradient of two dark blues and one silver grey with a grain effect to provide a textured, magical ambiance when applied to all branded collateral. This combined with both Disney and The Getty's typefaces and logos led to a warm, comforting, and magical background.
